ET Job Aids - User documentation

Introduction
Ethiopia's Smart Start e-Job Aid is the implementation of PSI's Ethiopia Smart Start guide, and PSI's C4C (Contraception for Choice) algorithm. It is embedded in PSI's WFA app to provide offline usage as well as authentication and data management. This app has been designed specifically for married girls from 15 to 24 years old that are looking forward to know more about family planning and about changing their lives for the best.
This application works completely offline and it is capable of saving information for as long as needed (with certain restrictions).
Job Aids at a glance
The ET Job Aids count with 4 “sections” where Smart Start navigators guide a group of girls and their husband through. The sections are as follow:
Section: New User + Returning User
The first set of screens consist on capturing the geographic location of the group and some personal information of girls. This project currently covers 4 out of 12 Ethiopia´s region (Oromiya, Sourthen Nations, Nationalities and People´s region, Southwest and Sidama). Smart Start allows to have “Individual” (one couple) or “Group” (various couples) sessions, depending on the type of session, the flow changes accordingly. If you go through the “Individual” route the next screens will ask for the couple information, whereas a group information is captured right at the very end.
Couples that have been registered in the ET Job Aids can also get back on track through a returning session, where they are required to answer a set of questions to determine how much they learned in the past session. Girls can choose an avatar that best represent them and their husband as well.
Section: Smart Start
This section covers half of the interactive sessions in the entire flow, here is where couples can play with the application to indicate which goals they have in the future and how planning things out allows them to make their dreams come true.
Counseling is provided throughout this session, that will allow them to have a much better understanding at the time of planning, for any goals they have in mind or when thinking about having children. Videos are also available and they provide much more context about the application itself, allowing couples to know that there is “more” when it comes to family planning.
Section: Family Planning and C4C
The next section is solely about family planning and the introduction of the PSI´s C4C (Contraception for care) algorithm. Couples are introduced to a set of questions related to family planning and contraceptive methods, each question indicates the right answer and includes a video for context.
After the quiz is completed, couples are now ready to start answering questions about their preferences when choosing a contraceptive method. Each questions changes the direction of the next questions and at the end of the flow, the algorithm offers up 4 out of 6 possible contraceptive methods (IUD, implant, condoms, emergency contraceptive, pills and injectables). On top of that, couples are able to get more insights about all the possible contraceptive methods the application has to offer in one go.
Once a method has been chosen, the couple is now able to answer a very quick quiz about the chosen contraceptive method as a knowledge check.
Section: Additional videos and closure
On top of learning about family planning, contraceptive methods and how these can lead to a better life, ET Job Aids provides additional knowledge about gender violence, COVID-19 and
What is next?
The four regions that the application currently covers is only the beginning, there are plans to make this application widely available, through the Google Play Store and the Apple Store, to the entire Ethiopia. You can also find what has been included in each version of the application from day zero to post-production at Release notes.
