est This article contains information about how to use the brand new Download Manager developed for the Ethiopia project Job Aids. This new feature allows users to download language builds in two modes, with and without media files. Currently, this application does not contain the most updated Job Aid build, however, once it has been fully tested and released, it will include the most recent version.

This article will be updated once this feature is available in a more stable server.

📘 Layout

The Job Aid Download Manager now has a new design, which shows which language packs have been downloaded and which are pending to download. The current layout also counts with additional features in the upper side of the screen.

📘 How to download a language pack

 1. While in the Job Aid main page, select the three dots menu right next to the language pack you need to download.

 2. Select either “Download with media” or “Download without media”

 3. This will automatically start the download.

Once you have download a language pack, you will be able to see additional options if you press the three dots menu once more.

Open: This allows the user to open Job Aid in the downloaded language.
See content: This option allows the user to review all the files that have been downloaded. This page includes details about the downloaded files such as the type of content, the time it was downloaded and the size of the file. You are also able to preview the files if these are images or audio files.

Delete: This allows users to delete the selected downloaded language pack.
Download media: If the initial download was without any media files, this option allows user to download the media files only.

📋 Additional features

syncType: This determines the download strategy, if “async” it means that it will download file by file (this strategy takes longer but it is more stable), if “sync” it will download all possible files at once (this strategy may take less time to download but it is less stable because of the many files downloaded at once, not recommended for low internet connection).

onDel_rmCache: This determines whether the cache should be removed if a selected language pack is deleted.

autoRetry: This determines how long the download manager will wait to stop the download if stuck at any point and retry, this counts with 10 seconds, 3 minutes and 5 minutes time.

retry_clearReq: This determines whether the download should start all over again if the download manager re attempts to download OR if it should continue from where it was left.

Download update: If there is an update available for a new version, instead of requesting the user to download every single package, users will now be able to download only the updated media files or application files. If an “App update” is available, the following options will be enabled:

Please notice that, even if no media files were added to the formula, we do recommend performing both updates, it is worth mentioning that this will not initiate a complete video download, it will only download new resources or updated.

🐛 Known issues

 1. It is possible for the download manager to start the download without the media files, even when indicating otherwise. If this happens, simply download the media as soon as the language pack is available at the top. This issue has been solved.
